As for my 2013 Project Life Album… come back on Tuesday where I will be posting week 7 of 2013. You can see my past Project Life posts, here.
On to the blog hop!!….
This week we have a tip from Joy Pribish (Becky Higgins Creative Team Member) . This is what Joy had to say about leaving the DSLR at home and relying on your camera phone.
It seems like anyone and everyone nowadays has a DSLR camera. Last time I went to Disney World, every single mother had her big ol’ DSLR strapped on and was taking pictures of her kids. It’s easy to feel like you need to document your entire life with just your DSLR camera. I know I felt this way up until recently. However, it’s not very realistic. I don’t know about you, but I don’t always feel like bringing my 5 pound DSLR with me everywhere I go. I used to take it with me everywhere when I was in college, but not anymore. I remember how heavy and annoying it was when I didn’t really need it. But how are we supposed to make sure we have enough pictures for our spreads? How do we get pictures from the entire week – and not just one day? Well, considering we all have smart phones (and if you don’t, you should upgrade, there will be no regrets), there’s an easy answer to this. Instagram. I love instagram for two reasons. One, you can apply filters to your pictures. And two, you can go to your profile page online and look back on all of the pictures you’ve taken – they even have the dates listed on the picture, so you know which pictures belong with which day and week. There have been weeks I have forgotten to take pictures with my DSLR, but then I’ve glanced at my instagram profile page and found that I took plenty of pictures with my camera phone throughout the week. On this particular spread, one side is made up completely of instagram pictures (not very many people are brave enough to take their DSLR camera to the beach, for fear of getting sand inside of the camera).
And if you’re caught up on the quality of a camera phone versus a DSLR. There are many times when looking at a person’s project life spread, I’m surprised to find out that most, if not all, of their pictures were taken with their phones. So rest assured, there’s not a big difference, and it’s the memories & reminiscing that count anyway.
Thanks for Joy for sharing! I know that lately I have been using my camera phone more compared to my DSLR. Sometimes it is just more practical. I am glad I am not the only one! Instagram is awesome, I agree!
Banu from Stamping with Passion
I love Banu’s colors going on here… the grey, blue and yellow! These are the colors I keep finding myself gravitate towards these days. Banu is using the Studio Calico Project Life kits along with some additional supplies. I love those flair buttons! Make sure to stop by Banu’s blog to get a closer look and she has a freebie up on her blog!
Nirupama from Avinash and Nandini
Oh so much to love from Nirupama’s spread! I see several cards from the February Studio Calico kit and some from the Clementine kit. I love the white chalk ink Nirupama used on one of her picture! I am adding white chalk ink to my shopping list, thanks for the tip! Such cute kiddos! Make sure to stop by her blog and check it all out, lots to see!
Joanna from Life-365-Everyday
I spy a cute baby on Joanne’s Project Life! I love the hand print! I love the colors coming out here… a little bits of pinks, blue, and yellow! Such a great idea to put a picture of the Presidential Inauguration in the spread! That is one thing I really should do – get in more current events. Make sure to stop by Joanna’s blog and take a closer look!
Thank you to Joy, Banu, Nirupama, and Joanna for sharing with us this week!

I definitely share my project life posts on my blog and would love to be featured in an upcoming blog hop! in fact, coming up i have one of my fav spreads ever!
Looking great! I carry a point and shoot mostly… I do take some photos with my phone but I prefer the P&S generally.
These are beautiful layouts! Thanks for sharing such lovely work, there’s lots of inspiration to be had here. I’d love to participate in your blog hop – I’m doing digital PL, I don’t know if you’re including those in your project. Thanks for including the thoughts from Joy. My nicest camera *is* my iPhone 4, so it’s always reassuring when creative people are advocating using our phones!
