Project Life 2013 | Week 1 + 2

Hello!  I am so happy to be sharing my first two weeks of Project Life 2013! But before I do… here are some notes:

    • On Saturday I hosted my first Saturday Project Life Blog Hop.  Thank you for all that stopped by! It was so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again this Saturday. So make sure to stop back for that.
    • My 2013 Project Life is having an identity crisis.   Project Life Binder – Olive Edition + Project Life Core Kit – Seafoam Edition + Studio Calico Monthly Project Life Kit.
    • I didn’t have the Olive Binder at the time I took the pictures below. So you will notice that it is in an old Turquoise  binder that I had around here.  Although the Olive binder did come last night. See!!! I got my binder today! I have a crazy combo going. Olive binder+ Seafoam kit + Studio Calico kit = my 2013 PL!! #projectlife
    • I picked Olive binder over Seafoam  because I just like the green better.  I don’t know. It was a difficult decision.
    • I thought that I wasn’t going to purchase a Becky Higgins Core Kit and just use the Studio Calico kit. But while I was putting together the first two weeks of 2013, I realized I am going to need more.  I used almost all of the January SC kit in these two weeks.  Now I will say that probably isn’t typical for a lot of people. I have large weekly layouts.  Remember, that is how I ended up with 5 binders for 2012!!  So anyway – I have purchased the Seafoam kit.   It is in the mail right now. So for these first two weeks you will just see the Studio Calico Kit (which I loved!).
    • I have had some questions about the Studio Calico Kit.  This is a monthly kit subscription that comes to me in the mail each month.  You can sign-up for this kit and others at http://www.studiocalico.com.  February kits are available  on the 27th of this month.  There has been a waiting list to get a subscription.
    • I used the Printicular app on my iPhone to print my instagram pictures.  Printicular lets you upload them directly to Walgreens and print 4×4 in 1 hour. Hello!!
    • I used Design I and Design J page protectors to work with the 4×4 prints. I also trimmed the 4×4 prints and used them with the Design A  page protectors. Other page protectors I used include:  Design H and these page protectors by American Crafts: Photo Protector – 6 x 12 for 4×6 Photos – Horizontal 10 pk
    • I also used the  100 Journaling Cards – 3″ x 4″ with Grid Design.  I cut them into strips and little blocks and placed directly on pictures as a place to add some journaling.
    • I went a little crazy with washi tape.

Great pages! Love how many photos and things you pack into each week. :)

  2. Melissa says:

Awesome!! I wish I had done this when mine were little. Love all their artwork. Terrific job!

  3. Banu H says:

Great pages and great inspiration. I am totally inspired to add more washi tape and more of the labels in my Layouts.

  4. Lisa Hankins says:

Michelle your pages are so fun! I love the way you capture pics of everything :) Love all the little labels and tiny bits of tape. Cutting up the grid cards to add beside the pics is brilliant! I’m in awe of how much you can pack into one week! You go!!

  5. melissa says:

Great layouts, thanks for taking the time to share so many photos! I’m so bummed I missed out on the first month of the SC PL kit… love those little blue alpha and the “make something today” overlay.

  6. melissa says:

Wanted to add I like that you include a lot of your family’s schoolwork. They will be thankful for that in the future. I include a few pieces here and there, but you make me want to include it more often!

  7. Melissa R. says:

Wonderful pages! I can’t wait to get started on mine now!

  8. Jen says:

Incredible album! I love your use of labeling (I’m an addict myself) and all of the bits you’ve included in your inserts!

  9. Adorable pages! I love the stars – one of my favorite shapes to include in my albums/scrapbooking. It works well with having 3 boys.

  10. Jessica Brees says:

One thing I really miss with switching from paper to digital is the ability to make an “insert.” I was thinking about experimenting and printing an album and the pages I would want as an insert, leave the far six inches white and trim the actual page of the digital book. That would leave a six inch page in the middle of the two twelve inch pages and maybe give the feel of the insert? What do you think??

Also, I REALLY wish Studio Calico (or any company) did a monthly digital Proejct Life kit. I use the monthly kits from Daily Digi, but they aren’t geared towards PL, you know?

Great pages! I love your layouts!!

  11. laurab says:

Wow, these pages are wonderful. This being my first time ever, I got the BH kits for xmas. Now I wish I hadn’t. I love the SC monthly kit and the other PL products so many mfgs carry now.

  12. Emily says:

You are going to have such great albums to look back at someday and remember all the little things you and your family did! Wonderful:)

  13. ARC says:

Oh wow, 5 albums for 2012?! Amazing.

Love how you’re including all that schoolwork. I do include a few special pieces here and there, but not every week. But I feel the need to have only ONE binder for the whole year. I don’t know why that’s so important to me :)

I loved the SC kit, and wished there was twice as much in it. Even on 2 spreads I’m not sure it’s enough :(

  14. You are right you sure do packs those weeks in. These are bright and fun layouts. I really like the way you use washi tape. I’ve gotten some great ideas from you. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Vicki says:

Holy cow! You are *officially* my new PL hero! I can’t believe how much you get out of each week–very inspirational!!

  16. Cerise says:

Your layouts are great! Love all the washi tape and stars.

  17. Heather says:

Lovely pages! I love how you write journaling right on your photos with little labels, washi with alphas, etc. I love to use these little labels I find at Staples, but you gave me so many ideas for getting creative with it!
