Life According to my iPhone

Wow – I was looking through my Instagram pictures from this week and all I could think was “This is really lame! I need to up my Instagram game!”.   And then I realized that when I think to myself it is fun to sound like Dr. Seuss in my head, and that made me laugh. To myself of course.

No really – my Instagram pictures don’t reflect much going on this week. Just pictures from around the house at night after dinner.  Lots of going to work and coming home to regular routine.  Nothing special. Nothing exciting.

The thing is, since about August my family and I have been going, going, going.  Family vacation, back to school, birthday parties! Then the fall with lots of family pictures to shoot, pumpkin patch visits, Halloween parties! Into the holiday season with Thanksgiving and then Christmas. There was a lot going on for many, many months. But now… its slowed down.  It’s cold here!  The days are short.  And apparently my Instagram pictures are reflecting this slow down.

Although – I am not complaining about the slow down.  It’s good. I like it.  I need it. But for so many months something has been going on.  I didn’t have to look very deeply to find moments to capture with my camera (DSLR or iphone).  Family vacation – click.  First day of school – click.   Birthday day party - click. Pumpkins - click. Cute kids in Halloween costumes - click,  Thanksgiving – click, Family – click, Christmas trees - click. Santa - click, click, click.  You get it.  But now….now all the excitement has died down.  Are there great things to take pictures of? YES! Are they handed to me on platter of birthday party, pumpkin patch with a side of Christmas tree goodness?  NO!   I must seek them out.  I must slow down and soak them in.  The little things that make the everyday wonderful. They are out there – I know I just need to stop and look.

So my challenge to myself this next week is to take some better pictures (Instagram and DSLR) of the everyday. Of the good things.  Of this time of year when there is a calm in the air.  To enjoy it. Because it won’t last long.  Spring will come and we  will be off and running.

So my Instagram pictures for this week:

Zooey came home from daycare labeled.  Ha!  They have a new staff member, and this is how they learn the names of the kids.  It makes me laugh every time I see it.

We have so many kids we had to start putting labels on them.

Seriously – this little girl has a lot of hair!

Look at all this hair!! #shegetsitfromhermama

Owen seems really tired and hungry these days. I think he is growing.

This guy is super tired

Ethan said this is his cowboy look:

He says he is a cowboy

A present from Grandma and Papa for Christmas. Doggie Doo. A plastic dog that poops slimy, yellow stuff. It’s lovely.

Doggie doo the game ... Ewwww

Zooey actually hasn’t been feeling good this week. She stayed home one day from daycare with a fever. Lots of runny nose and coughing going on. Poor baby

She wanted to do this

Dressed in my comfy sweatshirt… I noted on Instagram that it is my Honeymoon Sweatshirt. Purchased 10 years ago on our honeymoon.

Honeymoon sweatshirt... That was over 10 years ago. #comfy

Do you like our socks?

Do you like our socks?? Wow I am really coming up with some crappy Instagram pics. I blame the weather . No more Christmas. Just cold and dark. That's why we need our socks. Or spring . #instalame

Story time… although I don’t think the boys were paying much attention. Hmmmm….

Story time

This is a really cool post. I should do this with mine. I live off taking pictures on my iPhone that I forget about taking some on my actual camera!

  7. Your pictures are awesome. What is it about grandparents and weird gifts? My mom buys my son all kinds of craziness she never would have bought me. :) Dropping by from Our Everyday Harvest’s blog hop. :) Hope you have a lovely weekend!
