Project Life 2011: February

Here is a list of 10 things about my Project Life experience thus far:

  1. I started using PL as a tool to get out of the creativity rut I was in – which started when I was pregnant with Zooey.
  2. My hope is that it would help me get out of the rut and get my stories/pictures out of my computer and into an album. [its working]
  3. When I first started working on it, my goal was just to get the pictures printed and the stories told – nothing more.  Keep it simple, easy. However, towards the end of this year – I see my album evolving. I love that look of keeping little bits of paper and evidence of our week and in the last month or so I have started to collect those things and have plans to include them in my PL album.  [so inspired by Ali Edwards]
  4. So my early months lack that “stuff” – and I think they look a little boring…maybe even dull.   But I can tell you that at that point – that was all I could do.  Zooey was not sleeping through the night – lots of ear infections, etc. And I will still digging out of my rut.  So fancy – no.  Job done – yes.
  5. I haven’t really evolved away from the idea of a scrapbook layout for one event/activity/etc.  You can see that in my pages.  I use one or two (or three or four) pages to create “layouts” in my PL album.   And that is OK.  I am going to have a least 3 albums for 2011.
  6. I print way more pictures than I need to and then I use all of them because I love them all and can’t decide.
  7. I haven’t gotten to the point that I think about what pictures I am going to use (I am going to use all of them see #6) or how they will fit into my album when I am ordering prints.  NO pre-planning.   I print monthly and sit down with my stack of pictures and start fitting them into the page protectors.  I don’t have time to think much – just do it.  I use my blog to help me catch up.
  8. I am excited for the new variety of page protectors to be delivered to my front door (I already ordered from amazon). I think these are going to help my struggle of horizontal vs. vertical issues big time.
  9. I kinda felt bad that I didn’t have little pieces of paper and evidence of life collected for many of the months of 2011. But then I remembered my Facebook Status updates – to use those.  My updates frequently include funny things the kids say or what we were doing.  Just trying to use what I do have and not worrying about what I don’t have.
  10. My PL album is not a weekly album, but monthly. I am very fine with that.  [although – as time goes it does start to resemble more weekly – stay tuned] I am just proud that I started scrapbooking again.  I am just happy that I found this product and it has helped me get out of my rut. That it has given me away to scrapbook that is fast and efficient.  Because at the end of the day – I am just happy that the pictures were printed and the story was told.

This is excellent. I love the story about the spilled milk powder at 6 am. I love these kind of stories.

Thank you! And yes those stories are the best! I am just impressed that I had the camera sitting right there when it happened. LOL!

Yay, thank you for sharing. I have PL but have only completed one page. I’m stuck at planning and thinking whether I’ll back track or just pick up with the right now. That’s the problem with me, I should just do it!

Yup – just got to do it. Don’t over think it. Sometimes I get to wrapped up in the process. Just dive in and hope for the best 🙂 Thanks for visiting my blog!!

Thanks for this post. I have been toying for over a year with the idea of using PL in a similar way. I have done it the POTD method, but I really don’t want to have to worry about that. Your post solidified that the way I’ve been thinking of doing my PL album will work and look great!
